Dallas’ Crown Joule
For a city steeped in tradition, Dallas’ modern-day metropolis may come as a surprise. Alongside legendary honky tonks and hole-in-the-wall barbeque joints, you’ll find a slew of luxury boutiques, world-class art museums, speakeasies with award-winning cocktail menus, and tons of other hidden gems.
The city is in a constant state of reinvention, but not without reverence for its past. Take for example The Joule, a luxury boutique hotel in Downtown Dallas. Housed in a historic Neo-Gothic building, The Joule renovated a once-abandoned landmark and breathed new life into the area. What was once the Dallas National Bank is now a fun and funky independent hotel with Forbes Four-Star recognition, a seriously impressive art collection, and exciting bars and restaurants even the locals love. It’s a striking combination of old and new, and, best of all, it’s just a quick walk or drive away from Dallas’ most exciting attractions.

DESIGN LOVERS’ DELIGHT
If The Joule’s exterior and prime location aren’t enough to pique your interest, step inside to see its dazzling interior design. Everywhere you turn, there’s something beautiful to look at — glittering geodes, architectural furniture, and mid-century chandeliers. Even the staircases are showstoppers!
The biggest showstopper of all, though, is The Joule’s blue chip art collection. Throughout the hotel, you’ll find works by some of the biggest names in modern and contemporary art, including Andy Warhol, Tony Cragg, Los Carpinteros, Roger Hiorns, and Tony Tasset, the artist behind the famous eyeball sculpture on Main Street.
PENTHOUSE LIVING
Staying at The Joule feels like a luxurious, grown-up slumber party at your most fabulous friend’s place. The hotel’s modern guestrooms and suites offer plenty of space and amenities to make you feel at home — 300-thread-count sheets, rainfall showers, velvet couches, and ultra-plush down pillows, for example — plus elegant design details that remind you you’re certainly not at home — like paintings by local artists, black marble countertops with TASCHEN books, and views of Dallas’ downtown skyline.
Of all the hotel’s stunning accommodations, our favorites are the Penthouse Suites. Yes, there are multiple Penthouse Suites at The Joule, each with its own unique offerings. Looking for a place to host your girls getaway or a post-conference cocktail reception? Book the Rooftop Penthouse for its Viking kitchen and outdoor terrace complete with a lounge deck and group dining table. Do you want your Penthouse with a pool table and a fire pit? You’ll find it at The Joule. Prefer an art-filled living room with tons to look at? There’s a Penthouse Suite for that. How about a three-story loft with a wet bar, library, and an outdoor terrace overlooking Downtown Dallas? There’s a Penthouse Suite for that, too.
ALL DAY DINING
Whether you’re visiting Dallas for work or settling in for a long weekend, The Joule’s got you covered with delicious bars and restaurants just steps away from your Penthouse pad.
Business travelers on the go, start your morning right at Weekend Coffee for artisanal coffee, tea, buttery pastries, and specialty drinks like a dulce de leche cappuccino. (Sugar rush + caffeine = productivity and a good mood, guaranteed.)
Of course, Southerners will tell you breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you have more time for a hearty breakfast (or brunch, for the late risers), take a seat at The Joule’s signature restaurant, CBD Provisions, a Texas-inspired brasserie that serves every meal of the day, seven days a week.
Now, back to breakfast. What to order? We’re partial to the pecan pie french toast on brioche bread, but we’ll admit the steak and eggs are a close second. For lunch, how about a bowl of Texas red chili with honey butter cornbread to start, along with something light on the side, like a shaved apple salad (or an extra cheesy cheeseburger, or both)? You’ll often catch Downtown Dallas’ white collar crew visiting The Joule for a power lunch, too. No, literally, it’s on the menu! In addition to an assortment of sandwiches, salads and tasty starters, CBD Provisions offers a “15/30” menu of mix-and-match lunch items like “The Quick Chat” and “The Power Lunch” designed to be served quicker than you can say “Deal!”
Admittedly, dinner is the star of CBD Provisions’ repertoire. When the menu features wow-worthy dishes like crispy pig head carnitas, it’s tough to compete. Seriously, though, order the carnitas and thank us later! For a more traditional dish, opt for the seared scallops or the short-bone ribeye with secret CBD steak sauce.
Whatever you order, be sure to pair it with one of CBD Provision’s craft cocktails. We dare to say they’re among the best you’ll find in all of Dallas, especially since Gabe Sanchez—one of Texas’ most celebrated bartenders—is behind the menu.
If you’ve had enough Texas-inspired food for the day, take comfort in classic Italian dishes at Sassetta, a modern-day trattoria now open at The Joule.
After dinner, keep the merriment going at The Joule’s Lobby Bar and mingle with fellow travelers, or stick around to discover one of Dallas’ best-kept secrets: Midnight Rambler. You seem cool, so we’ll tell you how to get there: follow the lightning bolt.
Midnight Rambler is a speakeasy-style cocktail lounge that’s big on creative mixology (Gabe Sanchez is behind this place, too!) and just as big on curating the ~vibes~ with music events like weekly jazz vinyl sets, live music performances, and DJ sets. Order a season-inspired libation and ease into a leather sofa while local artists put on a show.
A SUBTERRANEAN SPA DAY
A visit to The Joule would be incomplete without experiencing its award-winning spa and wellness facilities. Inspired by geothermal energy, the spa is actually located underground! As you descend the hotel staircase towards nirvana, you’ll notice the light fades dimmer and dimmer, slowly enveloping you in a subterranean state of relaxation.
Start your spa day with the “European Heat Experience,” a therapeutic, temperature-changing journey through the spa’s geothermal-inspired amenities. At your leisure, spend time in the traditional dry sauna, eucalyptus-infused steam room, Swedish rainfall shower, ice grotto, and vitality pool before your chosen treatment.
The Spa at The Joule offers a wide range of signature body rituals, advanced skincare, nourishing massages, and more paired with cutting-edge products from Biologique Recherche, Candela, and Environ. Not sure where to start? Book a time period instead and your certified spa therapist will help you determine which treatments and products suit your needs.
When it’s time to cool off, head outdoors to The Joule’s jaw-dropping infinity pool and exclusive poolside bar. Jutting out from the side of the building, The Joule’s pool hovers above Main Street below. Order the pool bar’s signature drink — the frozen coconut margarita — and swim up to the edge for unbelievable city views.
EXPLORE DALLAS
With so much to see and do in Dallas, a central location is key. Luckily for guests of The Joule, they’re situated in the heart of the action. The hotel is located in Downtown Dallas’ Central Business District (CBD) and just a quick walk or drive away from some of the city’s biggest attractions and buzziest neighborhoods, including Deep Ellum, Uptown, Bishop Arts District, and the Dallas Arts District featuring 20 blocks of interconnected museums, performance venues, and public art spaces.
The Joule is also a stone’s throw away from some of Dallas’ best shopping destinations, including Neiman Marcus’ flagship store and the dazzling Dallas Design District, where travelers can hop from designer showrooms to upscale art galleries, to antique shops with fabulous vintage furniture.
The hotel itself is home to a handful of carefully curated retail stores, too. In the aptly named Hotel Shop, you’ll find an edited selection of wellness products, home goods, yummy snacks, artsy souvenirs, and other fun trinkets. The gilded Taschen Library offers a range of visual masterpieces to peruse, plus complimentary shipping for hotel guests. At Traffic LA, a satellite location of the celebrated Los Angeles retailer, fashion lovers can shop edgy streetwear and forward-thinking brands like Off-White and Balmain. And at Forty Five Ten, discover emerging luxury designers and their unique craftsmanship of women’s clothes, jewelry, shoes, accessories, and so much more.
