Craft beer is everywhere, and America has learned that there is way more to drink than a Bud Light. Almost every city has its own rising brew scene, but a few destinations are taking the movement to the next level. Here is our list of America’s best craft beer scenes.

Portland, ME

Maine’s largest city has exceptional seafood, quaint architecture and a roaring craft beer scene. Head to locally beloved bars like LFK and Novare Res Bier Cafe for a night out, or visit the Allagash Brewing Company and Shipyard Brewery for an up close look at two of the city’s most popular companies.

Boston, MA

The Cradle of Liberty is also one of the country’s prime craft beer cities. Take tours at Sam Adams and Harpoon breweries, or head to any of the city’s myriad bars and pubs. Downtown favorite Stoddard’s Fine Food & Ale is popular with the after-work crowd, and also whips up a stellar Irish coffee.

Brooklyn, NY

Part of what has made Brooklyn, NY the hipster mecca that it’s become over the past decade is its vast craft beer scene. Find a lively atmosphere at Downtown bars like 61 Local and Uglyduckling. Explore Brooklyn through its breweries, and visit proprietors like Sixpoint and Brooklyn Brewery.

Philadelphia, PA

Philadelphia has a bevy of craft beer bars and breweries. Check out Monk’s Cafe, a Belgian beer emporium, or Grey Lodge Pub, both with dozens of bottled and draft options. The City of Brotherly Love’s most well known and critically acclaimed breweries include Manayunk Brewing Company and Yards Brewing Company.

Portland, OR

Explore hundreds of bottles and taps at local favorite APEX, or enjoy a pint with some shuffleboard at Green Dragon Bistro and Pub. Oregon is one of the country’s top states in terms of breweries per capita, giving visitors plenty of local flavor to choose from. Some of the city’s most prestigious distributors include Widmer Brothers Brewing Co. and Laurelwood Public House & Brewery.

Austin, TX

Austin Texas is your spot for urban swimming holes, incomparable barbecue and everything deliciously alcoholic from a strong whiskey to your finest IPA. Avid beer fans will find locally-produced gems at the ABGB microbrewery and Austin Beerworks.

San Diego, CA

In addition to its top-notch surfing and tacos, San Diego happens to be one of the easiest places to find a craft beer in the country.
