Having free bike-sharing programs at most of our hotels, we are certainly proponents of a nice ride through the city. Looking to some of our favorite destinations in the country, these bike routes have proven to be the most appealing to a traveling cyclist:
Emerald Necklace And The Fens
The Emerald Necklace is a series of parks in Boston that connect the broad Arnold Arboretum, Jamaica Pond, Boston Common, and Back Bay Fens. For those unfamiliar, these are the top parks in spread out amongst the city’s many neighborhoods. This 3.9 mile ride will take you from the city’s bustling downtown through community gardens near Fenway Park and out to the Beantown’s outer limits.
Oleta State Park
Miami Beach, FL
Located in North Miami Beach (just a short, fifteen-minute ride from our SoBe hotels Blue Moon and Winter Haven), Oleta State Park offers one of the city’s largest trail systems. Advanced mountain biking trails, and oceanside lookouts make this an excellent place to spend a warm, sunny afternoon. The park also has kayaking and standup paddleboarding for visitors.
Kelly Drive Loop
Known as one of the best bike paths for soaking up the city of Philadelphia, the Kelly Drive Loop takes you along iconic attractions like the Schuylkill River and Boat House Row, with sweeping views of the skyline throughout. The path also takes you through different areas of the city like Brewerytown, Strawberry Mansion, and West Philadelphia. Perfect for cycling, the 8.45 mile loop is also popular amongst ambitious runners.
The Hudson River Greenway
New York, NY
Running from the bottom of Manhattan at Battery Park City, this biking and walking path parallels the Hudson River all the way up to the George Washington Bridge. It will take you past art galleries in Chelsea, skyscrapers in Midtown, and all the way to the medieval Cloisters uptown for the most ambitious riders. The downtown starting point is just a short walk from our Duane Street Hotel.
